The Two Fold Of Desire
It moves through me
taking a little nutrients
drinking with its roots
drawing down into my body
the meaty part
blood and sweat
epidermis and organ.
It searches for the heartbeat.
It pulls me up, out
into
something beyond this
physical realm
something liminal and
beautiful
and teasing in it’s vagueness.
What is it to dream?
The extension of self
rising into possibility
delicately cradling the
efflorescence of
an idea
a way things could be.
Examining hope between
your fingertips;
but also the risk.
The grief of rearranging
the fear of losing ones familiars
the alarm that it may not
work out how you yearned.
I delicately turn it over.
Look at all sides of this expanding
immaterial thing
that invades my sleep
and invites my heart
To dream is to live in tension
the in-between space
the mystery of if what I want
can be what is true.
The two fold of desire,
